It is not necessary to clutter up the apartment with garbage cans.
Many types of waste can be recycled and help the planet. But the process looks complicated: you need to keep a lot of tanks in the apartment or constantly go to the raw material collection point. In fact, everything will become much easier if you organize a comfortable sorting system at home.
There are two general rules:
1. Pick up compact containers and a place for them.
2. Reduce the amount of waste.
Where to store waste
Get two smaller trash cans instead of one big one.
Another option is to divide a large container into several compartments. For example, place a sheet of cardboard wrapped in foil across it and put organic waste in one part and plastic in the other.
Hang a bag for plastic bottles and aluminum cans.
Such containers must be washed before delivery to the collection point. Therefore, a clean bag can be placed in any convenient place: hang it on a kitchen door handle, inside a cabinet, or on any free hook.
Use shoeboxes.
It is convenient to put used batteries and glass in them. You can find a place for them at the bottom of the wardrobe in the hallway.
How to save space with separate collection
Fold paper and cardboard instead of wrinkling them.
Paper trash does not smell, so you can store it not under the sink, but anywhere: in the pantry, on the balcony, under the table or sofa.
Get rid of the air in tetra packs and plastic bottles.
An ordinary juice bag can take up half the bin. To save space, first unscrew the lid, fold the bottom and neck to the middle, release the air, then close the package – you can throw it away.
Install a food waste disposer under the sink.
Aerobatics of conscious consumption. The device will process the peel from vegetables, small bones from meat and fish, egg shells, tea leaves and other organic matter, and it will go down the drain. It is convenient and safe, and in addition, it makes it possible to use a miniature waste container and take out the garbage much less often. Important: be sure to find out before installing whether the treatment facilities in your area are equipped with systems for capturing and processing organic matter (most large cities have them).
